The article was published on the website euronews.com on April 17, 2013. The article reports that the Tribeca Film Festival has forgone a splashy studio premiere this year, opening instead with the music documentary ‘Mistaken for Strangers’.
According to this article, the Festival’s co-founder, Jane Rosenthal, noted the change in direction that they were really looking forward to ‘Mistaken for Strangers’ because it was a documentary that they were opening the film festival with.
This extract is said that the movie set the tone for a festival decidedly glib on glitz. Firstly, one more factor was that year’s homage to Nelson Mandela, who had supported Tribeca ever since it was established to revitalize New York neighborhoods hit in the 9/11 attacks. Secondly, Robert De Niro explained that Nelson Mandela was with them for the first festival. And they had had many, a few events with Mandela when he first came to the States. In addition to, Robert De Niro said that it’s appropriate to do that then when he was getting on. He would be 95 soon. In this article the author gives the information that the 12th Tribeca Film Festival might close with a revival of De Niro’s ‘The King of Comedy’, but the programme was otherwise dominated by the personality-driven exploration of some titanic cultural figureheads, including Richard Pryor, Muhammad Ali and Gore Vidal.
The author comes to the conclusion that French director, Yves Montmayeur, interspersed cut-up frames of Haneke’s work in reverse with interview footage of the nominally elusive Austrian, who was seen talking candidly about his own emotional investment in his productions. Also the Tribeca Film Festival came to a close on the 28th April.
To my mind, I can say that in spite of the fact that Nelson Mandela was the hero of 1970s, his personality is popular nowadays.
